Windshield Chip Repair

Each year, countless windshields are needlessly replaced as a result of rock chips that were not repaired. Often these “dings” don’t spread for several weeks, months or more after the initial damage, until extreme changes in weather, altitude or sudden impact cause the windshield to crack from the chip.

Windshield repair is a less costly and environment friendly alternative to windshield replacement.

If you’re paying out of pocket, chip repairs are $70 for the 1st chip and $10 for each additional chip. We will repair up to 3 chips on one vehicle. All chip repairs are done at our shop.

What is windshield repair?

Windshield repair is a term used to describe a process that involves the injection, curing and polishing of a specially formulated resin into the damaged area of a windshield. The process stops damage from spreading and restores the structural integrity of the windshield.

What can be repaired?

In most cases, windshields with 3 chips or less that are each the size of a quarter or smaller can be repaired. Damage that is close to the edge of the windshield may not be repairable.  If you believe your windshield can not be repaired, please call us to discuss your options.

Will the damage still be visible after the repair?

Although in most cases chip repairs improve clarity, the repair should NOT be considered a cosmetic fix. Rather, the repair is intended to restore the structural integrity of the windshield. A blemish or imperfection after the repair is normal, and a successful repair may look different over time. If the chip is in the driver’s line of vision and is distracting, a chip repair is not the right solution for your vehicle.

Is the chip repair process guaranteed to prevent further cracking?

No. While the chip repair process is more than 99.9% effective in preventing further damage, there is the possibility of the damage spreading into a crack despite the repair. In the unlikely event that a windshield chip we repaired does not hold, we would apply the amount paid for the chip repair toward a windshield replacement.
